Sol Homar grew up in Uruguay to the sound of the rhythm and the party of Candombe, heritage of the Africans who arrived in these lands of South America. Living in other countries she learned their culture through percussion, song and dance.
For Sol, the drum represents a way of communicating, very ancient and close at the same time, connecting us with our primitive, visceral and powerful part; something that she has always enjoyed very much and where she feels fulfilled.
Along side the percussion, her love for singing was born. In the union of these two tools she found the perfect balance between “earth and sky”. The drum always connected with the earth and personal power, and the voice gave wings to her emotions and feelings. Merging the two seems natural to Sol.
